This past Monday, Domino's announced that it is introducing a "gluten free" pizza crust!

As they note, many people are talking about the fact that this pizza is not safe for celiacs, as it will be prepared in the same kitchen as the gluten full pizzas they offer.

There have been a lot of complaints about this - why offer a "gluten free" pizza that is not actually gluten free? But I say why look a gift horse in the mouth? Yes, most of us will probably not be able to eat this due to cross contamination, so it really won't allow us to eat out any more than we already can. But what it does mean, is that a major corporation is listening, and most importantly responding to our needs. They may not have gone all the way, but it is a start, and if they are successful it sets a precedent for other companies to do the same, and compete to do it better.

In the meantime, we can continue to make gluten free pizza at home. And in my case, dairy free too; click here for the recipe - it turned out delicious!

What do you think about Domino's introduction of a "gluten free" crust? Do you think this helps or hinders the plight of celiacs? Do you think the crust will be a success?
